Meg Ryan
Meg Ryan is a blonde-haired, blue eyed woman with an exuberant personality. Meg Ryan was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra to Susan (Duggan) she was an English teacher, and also a one-time actress. Harry Hyra was a math teacher. Her heritage includes Ruthenian, Polish and Irish, as well as German. ("Hyra") is her Ruthenian surname, and "Ryan" is her maternal grandmother's maiden. Meg has graduated from Bethel High School, Bethel in May 1979. She moved to New York and majored as journalist at New York University. To earn some extra cash while working on her degree, Meg went into acting under her new name Meg Ryan. 1981 was her debut on the big screen. She portrayed Candice Bergen's daughter in the film by George Cukor Rich and Famous (1981). She auditioned and was selected to play Betsy in the day time television soap As the World Turns (1956). The show had her in the show's cast from 1982 to 1984. Meg was also part of the cast in the TV series One of the Boys (1982) which, however, was later cancelled. Her move to Hollywood came in 1984 and was offered an offer to appear on the western series Wildside (1985). Meg's role in the blockbuster movie Top Gun (1986) led to her being cast in Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) in which she co-starred with Dennis Quaid. For the remake of D.O.A., she starred again with Dennis Quaid. (1988) and they were married on Saint Valentine's Day in 1991. Meg was in 1989's When Harry Met Sally... (1989), and the scene at the restaurant became famous. Meg was nominated twice for the Golden Globe and BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. In 1993, she appeared with Tom in Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and was nominated again for the Golden Globe. Meg decided to stand out from the crowd in 1994 by playing the part of Meg as a drunken mother/wife in the film When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). After that, she went back to "cute" with both I.Q. (1994) and French Kiss (1996). The year 1994 was the year that Meg won the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award as "Woman of the Year" and was selected as being one of "The 50 most beautiful women in the world 1994" by People Magazine.
